This is an amazing blog for photographers. She has great insights into the magazine world and posts the work of a tonne of great photographers. You can find it here and I have added it to my blogroll on the left.

Cowichan Bay is an awesome place, and if you haven’t been, get up there before the summer is over. Take a drive, hop on a bus, hitchhike, motorcyle, or even catch the train up. It’s a tourist’s dream, and it can be pretty crowded in the summer, but still the funky and bright houseboats, burger shacks, and cool harbour make it worth it. Check out Boat House Burgers, that’s where Dan and I feasted on the Blue Cheese Burger and Dad’s Rootbeer. Also the True Grain Bakery is very cool, they mill there own flour there and a good portion of the wheat is grown on the island.
Laura and Mirko’s wedding was a really refreshing shift from the traditional. They spread the event over three days, one night for a small private ceremony, a luncheon for and family at the Empress the next day, then the following evening they held an intimate and relaxed party for friends at Nar Bistro in Oak Bay. The schedule really calmed everything down and left a lot of time for pictures. Nar Bistro is an amazing place, run by a beautiful family who make some amazing food and whose smiles added so much peace to the night.
I whipped my bike down East Sooke Road this afternoon, across into Sooke and up to the Sooke Potholes and back. Flying along those side roads I stopped at the bridge over Roche Cove, and took a few pictures of. Having a motorcycle has been such a blessing for me; being able to ride out and get lost has saved my mind a few times lately. This is my first bike (a CB400T Hawk for those of you who care) and I love it. My grandfather owned over 40 bikes in his life, so I am going to have to ride the hell out of this one to catch up.
If there is anyone out there who wants to go for a ride together I would love to. You can comment here or email at byronfryphoto@gmail.com.
Went to see this amazing exhibit over in an empty storefront over on Broad street. I had the new Iron and Wine album on my ipod and played it while I walked my way through the dark, somewhat impromptu gallery. If you get a chance, its a place to go and learn a bit about how hard, sad and beautiful our world can be.
I found this portrait taken last year, and I thought I would put it up. Alex is a talented artist who does amazing work with light installations, and has been my friend for a long time. I took this at a time when I was experimenting with portraits a little more, just photographing people because I was inspired to, not because I had to.
